Having grown up in Calgary, Jesse and his wife Melissa were looking for a small community to raise their family. After finding work in Lethbridge, and living there for a year, they decided on Coalhurst in 2015. Jesse and Melissa together have four children, two of which have actually been born in Coalhurst.
Jesse studied at the University of Calgary for both his Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Urban Studies, and his Master’s of Architecture. A few years after graduating he received his professional designation as a registered Architect, AAA in 2018. Jesse works as an Architect full-time. Jesse’s architectural experience has been quite broad based, including both public and private sector work. He has worked on projects with a wide range of construction budgets, up to $100 Million. Through his university education he also worked at a planning firm, rounding out his broad range of experience and understanding of the built environment.
Jesse is fueled by his optimism to improve his small part of the world one step at a time. He understands that the built environment has a significant impact on the way we daily live, work, and play. He approaches issues asking questions to get to the root of the problem and seeks to find win-win scenarios through creative and innovative solutions.
Serving the community is an important part of Jesse. In his past, he served as a Scout and Venture leader for over five years. He now serves on the Lethbridge Construction Association. After arriving in Coalhurst, Jesse sought ways to contribute and build the community. He aided in founding the Coalhurst Parks and Recreation Society in 2016 where he served as the Treasurer until 2021. During that time, together with other volunteers, they were able to raise $200k for the spray-park which was ultimately completed in 2021.
Here’s a few fun facts about him: he saved a friend’s life when they both nearly slid off an unstable icy cliff near the Gargantuan Cave system. He studied piano through grade school and have been playing since he was 5. He’s traveled to Australia twice, first was on a mission for 2 years, then second was for his last semester for his master’s degree. The first live concert he attended was ‘Tsumani Bomb’. In his spare time he enjoys video games.
