FINANCE CLERK
Full-time, Maternity Leave (12-month term)
Position summary
The Finance Clerk plays a key role in keeping Town of Coalhurst operations running smoothly — from processing accounts and assisting at the front counter to handling everything from taxes to utility billing. If you’re organized, detail-oriented, and love working with people, this could be the perfect fit!
Key responsibilities
- Data entry across several key areas (AP/AR, licensing, receipting, rentals, utilities, and more).
- Handling payments and preparing bank deposits.
- Managing the Town’s main inbox and phone line.
- Providing top-notch customer service to residents.
- Learning and using the Town’s software systems (MuniWare).
- Looking for ways to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and proficiency with Outlook, word processing and spreadsheet software i.e. Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and data entry skills.
- Aptitude for, and willingness to learn, municipal accounting fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree accounting, business management, office administration, or other related discipline.
- Experience working for a Municipal Government.
- Previous experience with MuniWare software.
