2018 Water/Sewer/Waste Management/Storm Sewer Rates
The Council of the Town of Coalhurst review the water, sewer, waste management, and storm sewer rates annually and set them accordingly to reflect the cost of providing these services.
For 2018, Council has approved no increase to the water, sewer and waste management rates. The storm sewer monthly rate will be increased by $0.45. To promote water conservation, the cubic meters allowed per month for water will be decreased from 22 cubic meters to 20 cubic meters.
These new rates will be effective February 1, 2018.
Monthly residential water/sewer/waste management/storm sewer rates for Town of Coalhurst residential customers effective February 1st, 2018 will be:
Basic water rate – $39.75 for the first 20.0 cubic meters – or portion thereof – plus $1.75 for each additional 1.0 cubic meter used over 20.0 cubic meters
Flat sewer rate – $37.30
Flat garbage rate – $18.90
Senior’s flat garbage rate – $9.45
Storm sewer rate – $5.50
Monthly commercial water/sewer/waste management/storm sewer rates for Town of Coalhurst customers effective February 1st, 2018 will be:
Basic water rate – $50.40 for the first 20.0 cubic meters – or portion thereof – plus $1.75 for each additional 1.0 cubic meter used over 20.0 cubic meters
Flat sewer rate – $37.30
Flat garbage rate – $18.90 – 95 Gallon Bin/$37.80 – 300 Gallon Bin
Storm sewer rate – $5.50
Friday Open Skate
Come skate with us every Friday afternoon in January and February 2018.
When: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Where: Outdoor Rink at Miner’s Park
We will be playing hockey and other winter ice skating games. Games and activities will vary from week to week. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own skates and helmet.
Helmets are HIGHLY recommended, and not provided – PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN!

Town Office Christmas Closure
The Town Office will be closed for the Christmas holidays from NOON, December 22, 2017 to 9:00 a.m., January 2, 2018.
Payments can still be made, by cheque, through the drop off box at the front door of the office or online/telebanking.

STATISTICS CANADA 2016 CENSUS RESULTS
The results from the 2016 Canada Census indicate the following for the Town of Coalhurst:
Population 2016 2,668
Population 2011 1,978
This is a population percentage change from 2011 to 2016 of 34.9%, which is the highest in the region.

Changes to Coalhurst Municipal Enforcement
Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement are pleased to announce the commencement of enforcement to the Town of Coaldale, Town of Coalhurst, Town of Picture Butte and the Village of Barons on January 16, 2017. Four Community Peace Officers will be working various shifts to allow for seven day a week coverage primarily from the hours of 7 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., however the times may vary due to changes to the Officer’s shifts. The four Officers will be responsible for enforcing all Municipal bylaws for each community as well as Provincial Traffic Offences under the Traffic Safety Act.
If you have a question for an Officer or have a complaint, we can be reached at
1-844-645-2635 or you can file a complaint using our new online complaint form at; Contact Form. When accessing the link, you may need to adjust your computer security to allow pop ups.
When using the online form under the heading of Select a Group, use the drop down arrow and select Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement. Once you have made the selection, then click on “Write New Online Report” and fill in the information. When finished, it will be sent to an Officer on duty and will be dealt with in a timely fashion. If you feel the matter is an emergency, please call 911. We look forward to servicing these communities and keeping them a safe place to live.
